We occasionally receive newsletters from Micindo Mistelbach Millenium School that tell us about activities, accomplishments, and needs. We would like to share these with you.
This first letter is from the school to the parents in Nov 2022. We have highlighted two key sections. The first highlight is thanking the people supporting the Holy Trinity Association for the funds to build a sorely needed classroom block for the primary grades. The second highlight shows just how far your donation can go; showing that $27 a semester pays for a child to be boarded at the school since in this rural area getting children to and from school each day is a great burden for many families. Boarding the children who live further away helps to improve their educational needs by ensuring that they can attend classes every day.

News from Micindo Mistelbach Millenium School – Nov 2021
Who we are – - The Micindo Mistelbach Millenium School is a parochial nursery, elementary and secondary school in a rural area of Western Uganda within the Diocese of Fort Portal. Enrollment has normally been between 700-800 students, but due to Covid-19 financial impacts the enrollment has dropped in the past year to 556 students led by 25 teachers and 10 support staff. Fr. Augustine Mugarura is the facilitator for this school that is directed by several Sisters. As the effects of Covid lessen, we expect our enrollment to increase, but we need your help to make that happen. What has been accomplished with your generous help:
- We drilled a water well and installed a solar powered pump to bring clean drinking water into a storage tank for use by the school. This was a godsend for us. Eventually the pump broke and we were without clean water for an extended period of time. Thanks to your generosity this past Aug - Sep we received the funds necessary to repair the pump and that repair effort is ongoing.
- We built a couple classrooms so classes can be held indoors rather than outside for some of the students. Although the floors are dirt and the walls unfinished these classrooms are a blessing to us.
- We provided back pay to our teachers who come from far away and who reside in makeshift staff housing on the grounds. They often work for reduced wages as our ability to pay them is often impacted by other pressing needs.
- We repaired the solar panels providing electricity to the resident staff housing.
- We repaired our one school van as transportation is essential to our survival in this rural area.
What we need in the months ahead with your kind assistance
- Prayers are needed for vocations to our Catholic faith and for the continued success of our school.
- Construction of a multipurpose hall to provide the space standards set by the Uganda National Examination Board for standardized testing. The room would also serve for conferences, meals, recreation, and so forth. We have the bricks for this building and just need to build the structure and place roof, floor, and finishing of inside.
- Improved resident staff housing. Our teachers come from very far away and reside on school grounds. They need better housing to help them prepare lessons and to encourage them to stay with us.
- Completion of several classrooms to provide sanitary concrete floors and plaster walls.
As we enter the Christmas Season the children and staff of Micindo Mistelbach Millenium School will pray for their kind and generous friends in Indiana and throughout the U.S.. May you be blessed a hundredfold and know that your generosity will be used to help with the continued faith development of the children in Uganda.
God Bless You.
Ever Grateful in Christ,
Augustine Mugarura
